The Pultec EQP-1A3 with an API 2520 gain stage – punchier, with a tighter low end. The Pultec EQP-1A3-SS has exactly the same input transformer and passive EQ as the EQP-1A3, but uses a genuine API 2520 op-amp gain stage driving a Triad output transformer. Many users describe it as “more punchy” with “a tighter low end” than the tube version; it is also the core of Pulse Techniques’ 500-series EQs.
