WITH GREAT POWER COMES GREAT REVERBERATION
BigSky MX features a staggering amount of computing power — it uses a high performance tri-core 800 MHz ARM processor — all dedicated to producing truly breathtaking reverbs. Our new reverb algorithms were meticulously created by hand, and then a state-of-the-art gradient descent optimization algorithm was used to dial out any undesirable ringing or artifacts.
This type of neural fine-tuning is based upon the same techniques that have enabled the recent AI revolution, and the result is springs that drip and splash, physical spaces you can really feel yourself in, and the sweetest possible musical response to every note you play.
TWO REVERBS AT ONCE
BigSky MX allows you to use two reverbs at once, for powerful sound sculpting and expansive reverb sounds that evolve organically over time.
You can switch between reverb engines with a single button press while editing, and easily see the Series, Parallel or Split audio routing state clearly displayed onscreen.
For a more interactive experience, you can dedicate a footswitch to control each reverb’s on/off state if you desire.
SOMETHING NEW AT EVERY POSITION ON THE DIAL
BigSky MX features seven brand new reverb algorithms built from the ground up, plus new features and enhancements for the classic BigSky algorithms.
Impulse and Chamber were created specifically for BigSky MX, and Spring, Plate, Hall, Room and Shimmer boast entirely new handcrafted algorithms while still giving you access to the original BigSky voices for each one.
Within every reverb type on BigSky MX, there are new sounds and features ready for you to explore.
UNPRECEDENTED IMPULSE RESPONSE CONTROL
BigSky MX gives you powerful editing tools to intuitively manipulate impulse responses in real time.
Set decay envelopes, gate the reverb tail, reverse the entire IR, resample on the fly to shorten or stretch the impulse, and create infinitely sustaining granular pads at the press of the Infinite footswitch.
Any compatible audio file can be loaded, allowing you to use convolution reverbs for everything from hyper-realistic spaces to wacky experimentation.
BigSky MX comes preloaded with 22 unique stereo impulse responses, including a collection of our very own meticulous captures of legendary analog studio gear that are addictively inspiring.
For musicians and sound designers seeking to elevate their sonic landscape, the Strymon Big Sky MX Reverb Pedal offers an unparalleled palette of lush, immersive reverbs that inspire creativity and precision. Whether you’re crafting ambient textures, enhancing live performances, or refining studio tracks, this pedal delivers studio-quality effects that transform any instrument or setup into a dynamic sound machine.
Many reverb pedals fall short by offering limited tonal options or lack the depth to truly shape your sound. The Big Sky MX shatters these limitations with its twelve distinct reverb algorithms, including Room, Hall, Chamber, Plate, Spring, Impulse, Cloud, Shimmer, Bloom, Chordale, Magneto, and Nonlinear. This extensive range means you can select the perfect reverb type to suit any musical context, from subtle ambiance to expansive soundscapes. The inclusion of Shimmer and Bloom effects adds ethereal harmonics and evolving textures, allowing you to push beyond traditional reverbs and craft unique sonic identities.
Designed for precision and versatility, the pedal features dual 1/4″ inputs and outputs, enabling stereo configurations that preserve the spatial integrity of your sound. The selectable relay-based true bypass or buffered bypass ensures your tone remains uncompromised when the pedal is disengaged, a crucial feature for maintaining signal clarity during complex setups. The OLED display provides an intuitive interface, making it easy to navigate presets and tweak parameters in real time without interrupting your flow.
Connectivity options extend beyond the basics, with MIDI In/Out ports and USB-C support for firmware updates, MIDI control, and integration with the Strymon Nixie 2 editor software. This level of control empowers users to customize and store settings with precision, tailoring the pedal to their exact performance or recording needs. The additional 1/4″ TRS input accommodates expression pedals or footswitches, granting hands-free manipulation of effects parameters, which is essential for dynamic live performances.
Physically, the Big Sky MX is compact yet robust, measuring 1.87 inches in height, 6.75 inches in width, and 5 inches in depth—dimensions that fit comfortably on pedalboards without sacrificing durability. It operates on a standard 9 V DC power supply with 500 mA current, which is sold separately, ensuring compatibility with most existing rig setups.
This pedal excels in multiple scenarios: guitarists looking to add depth and dimension to their tone, keyboardists seeking lush atmospheric layers, and producers aiming to enrich mixes with high-fidelity reverb textures. Its versatility also makes it ideal for experimental musicians and sound designers who require both classic and cutting-edge reverberation effects.
Priced at ₹69,990, down from ₹78,100, the Strymon Big Sky MX represents a valuable investment in quality and creative potential. With its extensive feature set, superior sound quality, and flexible connectivity, it stands as a reliable partner for musicians serious about their craft. When you choose the Big Sky MX, you’re not just buying a pedal—you’re unlocking a world of sonic possibilities that can redefine your music.
