The VideoMicro is a compact microphone designed to improve the audio quality of your videos. It incorporates a high-quality cardioid condenser microphone capsule for great quality audio recordings when used with a wide range of cameras. A directional microphone, the VideoMicro reduces distracting peripheral sounds and focusses on the audio in front of the camera. Its pickup is more forgiving than RØDE’s other on-camera microphones providing a more natural sound when recording indoors. Perfect for capturing incredible audio to accompany inspiring vision. The microphone body is made from aluminum, giving it a high level of RF rejection, and is finished in RØDE’s high-grade ceramic anti-glare black coating. Included with the VideoMicro is a camera shoe mount featuring a Rycote Lyre shock mount.
Featuring a suspension structure composed of a hard-wearing thermoplastic, it is far more effective at minimising unwanted vibrations, handling and cable-borne noise than traditional elastic suspensions. Virtually indestructible, the Rycote Lyre will never sag, snap, wear out or require rethreading to maintain its effectiveness. Also included is the WS9 synthetic furry wind shield with foam inner cell, designed for use in outdoor scenarios where wind and environmental noise can inhibit recordings. Optionally available is the RØDE SC7, a TRS to TRRS cable that allows the VideoMicro to be used with smartphones, to capture crystal clear, directional sound for video and video applications such as Periscope.

Ii returned this because I Purchased for video recording songs but this mic is a Drlirectional mic ! This Mic is good and sound quality is best but not suitable for Those who want to sing and also Playig guitar together , this mic can’t pick up my Both of Sound , vocals and Guitar together ! It has Noice Cancellation! So it can’t take 2 sounds properly

Rode has always been the go to in the market for good audio gear. This one is no exception. It does a pretty good job with sound on my canon. Its really good value for the price. It comes with a wind sock in the package so that’s a blessing. The microphone itself feels good in the hand and is pretty good quality. So is the wind sock/protector that comes with it. I would say that about the mount though. The mount that attaches the camera to the mic feels very flimsy and cheap. It handles the mic and the shocks from that camera very well, but still gives you a mini heart attack now and then. You have to be very gentle with it. There is a noticeable hiss from the mic when you listen to the raw clip but it’s easily correctable in post production. Also, you might want to change your camera audio settings from auto to manual when you put this on. Works better that way. It is a pretty good product from rode and its decently priced. A light Weight Microphone with Good Sound Clarity perfect for Outdoor UsageThis is my first product from this company and my experience has been good so far.(I have done a detailed sound comparison review on YouTube. You can search “Best Budget Microphones for YouTube by the Indian Dreamer”.)There was lot of models available with them but I selected this because it is light weight and does not requires additional battery. It takes its power directly from the camera.As per my observations, the microphone is good for outdoor usage. Along, the wind shield flurry cover, the wind noises were suppressed to a great extent.But, when I tried using it indoor, I noticed some hissing sound. Which I had to remove later in the editing.The rycote shock mount works perfectly in reducing noises due to vibrations.It fits very nicely on the camera’s horse shoe mount and does not increases the overall weight.

I ordered on 26 July 2016 and am still using it. I used it for six years, about five days a week. U have had problems at all. The mic is directional and its performance has been EXCELLENT. I used it with smartphones and cameras. The shock mount also served me well and broke today (understandable).

I record video with my Conon 70D and audio with my Galaxy S8. This is easy to sync later. The camera is not capable of recording the sound in the format I like nor is it as crisp or clean. With my smartphone, the Røde adaptor and an external app I can record clean, crisp sound outdoors at 48khz WAV which is very easy to sync later.I also trialled plugging the mic into my camera and it had a hum and more noise. On further investigation, this is the camera, not the microphone.This microphone comes with a Global 2 year guarantee when purchased from this seller, which is really important for me as I live in Sweden. I was shocked to discover last year that Samsung does not as I bought a Galaxy S7 in India which did not work in Europe and was not guaranteed at all. In fact Samsung produces inferior products for the Indian market, even though they are the same price as Europe.This time I did my homework and am very satisfied with my purchase.
