30 reviews for Marshall MS-2R Red Micro Guitar Amp

This tiny box provides the classic ‘Marshall crunch’ on the clean channel and it is excellent for practising in your room.I have been playing a Gibson Les Paul 60s tribute (with single coil P90 pick-ups) and a standard Fender Mexican telecaster through it for the last one week.As you would expect from a Marshall amplifier, the sound pleasantly cracks up on the clean channel if both the guitar and amplifier volume settings are turned up.This sound is good for classic rock. The overdrive channel also provides decent light to medium distortion but, as expected, the tiny speaker produces jarring sounds at high distortion levels. Here are my views on some of the concerns that other reviewers have raised:• Product Quality: I received a genuine Marshall product. It has excellent build quality and it lives up to the Marshall name.• Battery life: I have been using it every day for 3 to 4 hours for the last one week and the battery has not yet discharged. I don’t see the need of an external power source.• Sound Quality: It is excellent for solo practice. Don’t expect to sound like Black Sabbath with it; it is a practice amp – set your expectations accordingly!• Sound cracking up on clean channel: A good guitar amplifier is supposed to do that at high volume settings!Overall I feel that it’s a must buy product for all electric guitar players. Go for it!N.B: I have been playing guitar for over two decades.

This can be the perfect reason to more practice for your guitar. Nice and compact, packs a good punch for it’s size. Can carry it for a session to your terrace or lawn in the winter Sun. Should work pretty well for a camp fire too. Don’t expect it to replace your full size guitar amp just like you wouldn’t compare a Maruti Alto to Mercedes or Audi. The other model that has two speakers isn’t as good, may be a tad louder but that’s it. This model has a little overdrive function too that gives a taste of distortion, but again don’t expect to get heavy metal or hard rock tones.Use it for your practice, quiet campfires, with your SO and you will be glad you got this baby.

Marshall MS2R as for me is not that bad for the practice. The distorted overdrive sound is awesome for rhythm playing. It is loud compared to it’s size.Overall it’s a nice amp at that price. Just my thoughts .

Before buying this i have done some research but i didn’t expect this mini amp would be this much good, i loved it and don’t think too much about it just buy it.

  5. Kunal Kambli

Personally i wouldn’t recommend this amp to anyone. Even after keeping the volume to half and tone level in the centre you don’t get clean sound , it’s really muddy. Rather go with some other amp or get a headphone amp instead.

  6. Prahar Debbarma

Met my expectations under low price. Very good quality sound.

aesthetics 10/10. Don’t plug and play, not worth it!

  11. Shrey

Item was shipped in good condition and as described. It is very small, compact and lightweight. At high volume level the sound isn’t clean/clear and there is a constant noise. At lesser volume the sound of guitar can’t be heard but only the vibrations of strings. Better to increase the budget and go for better amplifiers. The output headphone jack is also of 1/4″ size. I have initiated return of the item.

  14. Swapnadeep

This product is not good. Not sure if this is original. There is a weird buzzing sound n overdrive os awful. Also it says made in vietnam . The clean channel is ok but if u increase the volume over 5 it has this weird buzz. I changed the product but the new one I got has the same problem. Not worth it

This is a small amplifier with a 2″ speaker and single volume and tone controls. It has two channels – clean and overdrive. The clean channel is too quite even for personal practice. The OD is workable for small single person practice sessions where a guitarist is playing to himself. It isn’t exceptional but you hear your guitar through an amp and at a loud phone to semi-loud bluetooth speaker volume. It looks very cool as a collectible and is very useful for bedroom practicing, even late at night. The main advantage is you hear a speaker and can notice mistakes better, so it does help you improve. I am happy with this purchase and have been using it since 2018. It can only be used for personal practice, so consider that while buying

my sister bought this for me.The packaging was good but the cover box of the amp was damaged and the marshall logo in front of the amp was missing.anyway,i connected it to my strat but i was getting no sound when i turned the knob to ON(and yes the volume knob was upto 10 ).then i switched it to OD,this time,it worked but only the the low pitch strings(E,A,D) were giving a somewhat distorted sound while the lower strings were clean.after a while,i changed the cable points to see if has any change.i dont know wether that did it or not,but now the amp was working on the ON switch.(the OD was also working correctly now).overall, the sound quality was not that good as expected from such a brand.hell my stranger amp sounds better than this.but then again, this is a practise amp so you should not expect that much from this amp.I think if u desperately need it,then only buy it otherwise dont go for it.

    Cute and portable
Dont expect an incredible tune from this. However, it is really cool looking and portable which is a must buy for guitar players.

  27. Chiara Gaeta

    Piccolo. Utile per studio.
Bellissimo, ben fatto.

  30. Anton Sundin

    Perfect for some jamming
Sound is good for what it is, but missing bass and the higher tones are a bit screechy. But i had low expectations and it definitely exceeded them.Perfect to just jam on the balcony without disturbing neighbours. Overdrive was a bit of a letdown though.
