Achieve studio-grade detail and flexibility with the Golden Age Project FC4 MC Small-diaphragm Condenser Microphone. Designed for professionals who demand accurate transient capture and sonic clarity, this microphone adapts to diverse recording scenarios without compromise.
Switchable polar patterns—cardioid, hypercardioid, and omnidirectional—allow precise control over sound pickup, reducing unwanted ambient noise or capturing full-room ambience as needed. This versatility makes the FC4 MC ideal for instruments ranging from acoustic guitars to orchestral strings and percussion.
The 0.79″ (20 mm) gold-sputtered capsule ensures a fast transient response and extended frequency range from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, capturing both deep lows and sparkling highs with low distortion. The microphone can handle sound pressure levels up to 140 dB SPL at 1 kHz with less than 1% total harmonic distortion, enabling clean recordings of loud sources without clipping or overload.
Its discrete Class A transformerless electronics minimize noise and maintain signal integrity, delivering a low self-noise floor of under 17 dB(A). Sensitivity is rated at 14.5 mV/Pa (-37 dB), providing strong output for detailed sound reproduction. The included highpass filter and -10 dB pad extend usability to challenging sources by reducing rumble and preventing overload.
Constructed within a durable 0.86″ x 5.9″ brass body weighing just 1.03 lbs, the microphone offers robust build quality optimized for both studio and stage. It requires 48 V phantom power and connects through a gold-plated XLR output, ensuring compatibility with professional audio interfaces and mixers.
The FC4 MC’s interchangeable heads and external switches allow quick adaptation on the fly, while its balanced 250-ohm output impedance provides stable signal transmission over long cable runs. This combination of vintage-inspired design and modern engineering delivers consistent, reliable performance tailored to professional recording environments.
Whether capturing subtle acoustic nuances or powerful amplified instruments, the Golden Age Project FC4 MC offers precise, noise-free recordings with exceptional flexibility. Its thoughtful engineering and high SPL handling make it a valuable addition to any microphone collection focused on detail and versatility.
