Bad tuning and it’s not a goat skin head.
The packaging itself was bad and the Djembe I received was damaged a bit on the side. The drum tightening rope ring is too close to the edge of the drum head and as a result the top portion of our palm gets hurt while playing tones. The geometry of the iron ring and drum head itself is uneven. The paint on the wooden drum smells bad. There’s a ringing sound on slaps which I don’t think should be there for a west african Djembe. I realized that authentic sounding djembes come with a premium price tag and a better alternative would be a Darbuka as it’s construction is cheap and it’s light.
