The history of Yamaha‘s FG series started in 1966 with the release of the FG180 and FG150. Over the 50 years since its introduction, we have developed and produced several generations of FG – all of which have made FG the ideal acoustic for contemporary players. In all, there have been over 200 FG models since 1966.
When it was introduced in 1966, the Yamaha FG proved that a great acoustic guitar didn’t need to cost a fortune. With a focus on great playability, musical tone and outstanding build quality, the original FG180 quickly became a classic with countless careers and hit records starting life on an FG. 50 years since the introduction of the FG acoustics, the new range features the best-ever FG tone and the same great playability and class-leading quality that’s made it the choice of millions of guitarists.
The 800 Series has a louder and stronger sound in the low to mid-ranges, thanks to cutting-edge acoustic analysis technology developed by the Yamaha R&D Division. Yamaha’s engineers have achieved this sound by utilizing analysis and simulation to arrive at the best bracing design without depending on tradition.

The 800 Series features a new scalloped bracing pattern; an ideal acoustic structure that maintains the durability of the top board, while bringing out more of the natural sound of the instrument.

2 body shapes, including an all-new FS concert size; 5 grades featuring different tonewood options; a myriad of color options; acoustic or electric-acoustic models. Whatever the personality of your music, there’s an FG to match.

Every aspect is crafted to make a better guitar. From painstakingly cured and dried woods to beautiful hand-sprayed finishes and detailed quality control, each and every FG is made to be a lifelong partner.

I had a laminated spruce top guitar for about 10 years and still do. I used to play it about 10 hours on a weekly basis. That guitar had open up and became quite resonant. When I unpacked my FG 800, I wasn’t expecting much because the guitar is brand new and hasn’t been played at all and I had a reference sound to compare it to . But to my surprise, I was taken aback when I hit the strings on FG800. It sounds beautiful. Keep in mind that this guitar has never been played before so this guitar is only going to get better the more I play it. Also keep in mind if you are buying it from a store and you played it and didn’t like it’s sound, it might be your perception. Please ask other person to play it and feel as a listener. It sounds great and competes way above it’s price point. I made the right choice. Thank you Yamaha for a beautiful instrument.

Amazing guitar and amazing delivery. I was looking to buy a good guitar under 20k. Got a good deal from maa durga enterprises seller. Received the product nicely packed and safe, within stipulated time… everything as listed… For the guitar fg800 from yamaha is one of the best solid sitka spruce top guitar, in this price range. However action on guitar, out of the box is little on a higher side but very much playable. Will need a set up job but this is expected for any new guitar. Tone is fantastic and sustain is lovely. Projects sound really well… I am loving it 😍

I just compared the sound of FG800 with FX310A (with Equalizer), it’s astonishing and awesome!!!! Strongly recommend to who is looking for great sound and clarity under 20K.I am so happy in playing with my new FG800. Packing was so safe and delivered not with even a small scratch. If built-in Pickup is added, it would be so great!

Sounds great. Arrived well packed, no damage whatsoever. However, the action was very high from the factory and you will need to take it to a good luthier to fix it. I am playing it for the last two years and the sound has only gotten better over the years.

Nicely crafted, great sounding, well setup strings.
Craftsmanship: Yamaha quality. I’ve owned a couple Yamaha guitars and this one is consistent with their brand. The FG800 appears to be much higher quality in materials and design than most of its competitors at lower price points. The head, tuning pegs, and fretboard are much nice than Epiphone DR-100. I wasn’t sure about the Natural spruce colour for the top when I ordered it, but it looks great. The strings are good quality and setup are very nice. Medium. They remain in tune over long periods.Packaging: Packaged for shipment in a light, but highly-protected corrugated cardboard box with clear labels that it’s a guitar. Surprised there was no damage but it arrived in perfect condition. This set does not include any accessories which may be useful for beginners.Great guitar to learn on, I could play this for several hours on end.
