Telefunken TDP-2 Dual Passive Direct Box

TDP-2 Dual Passive Direct Box

The two-channel TDP-2 passive direct boxes combine premium though-hole components, European-made transformers and rugged, road-ready construction to deliver rich, warm tone in any environment. Boasting an ultra-flat frequency response with extremely low distortion and self-noise, the TDP direct boxes excel at capturing everything from synthesizers and keyboards to acoustic-electric guitar and electric bass with a certain subtle and unique character. At the heart of all TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik direct boxes are custom-wound output transformers made in England by OEP/Carnhill. Each channel features premium metal Amphenol connectors and recessed metal switches to engage the -15 dB pad and ground lift. These elements combined with premium passive components (including 1% tolerance metal film resistors, and WIMA and Nichicon capacitors) are all housed in a rugged aluminum chassis designed to withstand the wear and tear of the road. Like all TELEFUNKEN microphones, all TDP direct boxes are assembled and critically tested in Connecticut, USA.

For audio professionals and enthusiasts seeking pristine sound quality and reliable signal management in live and studio settings, the Telefunken TDP-2 Dual Passive Direct Box is an essential tool. Designed to deliver uncompromised audio clarity and seamless integration with various sound systems, this direct box addresses common challenges such as signal degradation, ground loop interference, and impedance mismatches. Whether you are connecting electric guitars, basses, keyboards, or other line-level instruments to a mixing console, the TDP-2 ensures your audio remains clean, balanced, and free from unwanted noise.

At the heart of the TDP-2 is its custom-wound OEP/Carnhill transformer, a hallmark of Telefunken’s commitment to premium sound fidelity. This transformer not only guarantees a wide frequency response ranging from 10 Hz to 70 kHz with a tight ±1 dB tolerance, but it also provides superior isolation between input and output. What this means for you is that your instrument’s tone stays true and vibrant, with negligible coloration or signal loss. The transformer’s design effectively eliminates ground loop hums, a frequent issue in complex audio setups, thereby preserving the integrity of your performance.

The dual-channel configuration of the TDP-2 offers versatility and convenience, allowing you to connect two instruments or signals simultaneously. Each channel features a 1/4″ input jack and a corresponding 1/4″ thru output, enabling you to split the signal effortlessly for stage monitoring or effects processing without compromising signal quality. Balanced XLR outputs deliver a low-impedance signal (< 200 Ω) optimized for long cable runs to mixing desks or audio interfaces, minimizing noise and interference. With a maximum sound pressure level capability exceeding +18 dBV before distortion, the TDP-2 can handle intense signal peaks without compromising clarity, making it ideal for dynamic live environments. Physically, the TDP-2 is compact and robust, measuring 100 mm in length, 100 mm in width, and 50 mm in height, while weighing only 590 grams. Its durable construction withstands the rigors of touring and frequent use, ensuring longevity and consistent performance. The input impedance of over 20 kΩ ensures compatibility with a wide range of instruments and audio sources, maintaining signal integrity without loading down your devices. This direct box excels in both live and studio applications. On stage, it allows musicians and sound engineers to achieve clean, balanced audio signals that integrate seamlessly with PA systems and mixing consoles, minimizing troubleshooting and setup time. In the studio, it preserves the natural tone of instruments while providing the necessary impedance matching and noise reduction vital for high-quality recordings. Its passive design means no batteries or external power supplies are required, reducing maintenance and potential points of failure. In summary, the Telefunken TDP-2 Dual Passive Direct Box is a professional-grade solution for anyone demanding high-fidelity, noise-free audio signal conversion. Its premium transformer technology, dual-channel flexibility, and rugged design combine to offer exceptional value at ₹41,440. Whether you’re a touring musician, sound engineer, or recording professional, the TDP-2 empowers you to capture and deliver your sound with confidence and precision. Investing in this direct box means investing in reliability and sonic excellence for every performance and recording session.
