The De-Esser Mk2 is a redesigned studio instrument that uses unique phase-canceling technology to eliminate undesired sibilants. It features solid aluminum knobs and two mono De-Essers in one device. The De-Esser’s unique circuit architecture combines ease of use with superior sound performance. It monitors the sibilant frequency spectrum and processes a narrow bandwidth to eliminate sibilance while allowing neighboring frequencies to breathe. An auto-threshold mechanism ensures consistent processing even with inconsistent microphone techniques.
S-Reduction Control with LED Display
- The S Reduction control modifies the strength of the S sound reduction. In reality, S Reduction levels ranging from -2 to -8 dB produce the greatest results for most applications.
- The S-Reduction LED display shows the level of the S sound reduction from 0 to -20 dB in 2 dB increments.
Auto Switch
- The Auto switch enables the Auto Dynamic feature. This automatically changes the threshold if the input level varies owing to the distance to the microphone, which might cause fluctuating input levels.
- The Auto-Threshold feature maintains the de-using intensity at the S Reduction control setting. This is useful not just for new voiceover artists, but also in live circumstances.
XLR and 1/4″ balanced inputs and outputs
- The DeEsser Mk2’s two channels include gold-plated Neutrik XLR connections. Each de-esser also has 1/4″ TRS connections.
- The signal transmission is electronically matched to +6 dB.
