The VC1 is a 3 meter (10 feet) 3.5 millimeter stereo audio extension cable, featuring two core shielding and a gold plated jack and socket. This stereo extension cable is compatible with microphones featuring 3.5 millimeter outputs. However, it is ideal for use to connect a RØDE VideoMic, Stereo VideoMic or VideoMic Pro when the microphone is mounted on a boompole, or away from the camera or recorder. The VC1 can also be used as a high quality headphone extension cable or it can be used with the RØDE VXLR for 3.5 millimeter mini jack conversion to XLR input.

This is a shielded cable so it’s ment for extending Lav mics and shotgun mics for recording purpose. If you just want an aux extension cable for playing music then go for amazonbasic.I have used this to connect my Rode LavGo and Zoom H1n and it works perfectly.I have also used this with Rode VideoMic NTG and it works fine, there might be a little bit dip in volume but it worked fine with my setup (mic was quite close to the subject, and the subject was quite loud).

Coming straight to the point.When to buy?When you are using rode mics, like Rode VMGO, rode Video Micro, rode VMPR plus and your video setup is such a way that camera is far away from audio source or you. Any 300 INr cable can not get u the same result… in terms of the interference. very well shielded cable. using it with zoom h1 and video mic pro… the difference between my h6 + NTG 4plus set up sound quality wise a slight behind,,,, but definitely that setup cost more than double .and if you are not comparing critically you will never gonna feel the difference after some post-production manipulation. and some how this cable plays a major role in that case , bkz with the other cheap cables I use to get a noise and interference and there is a sound quality difference also a bust in gain .

I debated for awhile whether I should get a generic cable or go ahead and get the Rode cable to go with my Rode camera mounted mic. I decided to go with the Rode because it has good shielding and is a balanced connectors. Plus Rode has never let me down yet.
