Achieve professional-grade recordings with a microphone engineered for sonic excellence and tonal authenticity. The United Studio Technologies UT Tube67 delivers the rich, warm character of classic tube microphones while ensuring modern reliability and precision.
At the heart of this microphone is a custom UT Series K67 capsule, crafted from solid 34 mm brass and dual backplate design. Its 6-micron diaphragms are sputtered with 24k gold on Mylar PET film, providing exceptional sensitivity (-38 dB at 60 V polarization) and capturing nuanced audio detail across the full 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency spectrum. This design minimizes harsh resonances for smooth low and mid frequencies, essential for capturing vocals and instruments with clarity and depth.
The microphone’s vacuum tube amplifier features a hand-selected NOS EF86 pentode tube from the 1960s, delivering authentic tube warmth and harmonic richness. Complementing this is a custom-wound UT Series transformer, manufactured in the USA with high-nickel alloy laminations and a copper Faraday shield to reduce radio-frequency interference. This combination ensures a low output impedance of 38 Ω, extended headroom, and exceptional noise rejection, with self-noise levels below 11 dB for clean recordings even in quiet environments.
Versatility is built in with three selectable polar patterns—cardioid, omni, and figure-of-8—allowing precise control over sound capture and rejection. An 80 Hz high-pass filter (-12 dB down point) and a -10 dB pad provide additional flexibility to handle high sound pressure levels up to 137 dB with minimal distortion (0.5% THD), ensuring distortion-free performance on loud sources.
The microphone’s robust nickel electroplated body and black satin finish are constructed from solid milled brass, combining durability with vintage aesthetics. Included is a suspension-type shockmount to reduce mechanical noise and vibrations, along with a custom 6-meter Sommer 7-conductor XLR cable for reliable, interference-free connection. The microphone connects via a 24k gold-plated 3-pin XLR output, with a separate power supply featuring switch-selectable 110-120 V or 220-240 V AC input through an IEC320 3-conductor receptacle.
Measuring 241 mm in height with a 60 mm diameter, the microphone fits comfortably in professional studio setups. The included power supply is compact (143 mm wide by 67 mm tall including feet) for convenient integration. This complete package ensures a seamless recording experience with minimal setup.
Designed and assembled in the USA, the UT Tube67 combines boutique craftsmanship with historical accuracy, recreating the revered sound of vintage 67-style tube microphones. Its detailed engineering and premium components make it an essential tool for capturing vocals, strings, brass, woodwinds, piano, drums, and guitar with unmatched sonic fidelity and character.
