Wah Mode with Foot Sensor Activation and Custom Control

In Wah mode, the Free Step gives you flexible operation. Choose between traditional toe-switch activation or use Mooer’s innovative foot sensing circuit to engage the effect automatically. This allows for quick transitions during live play and the option to leave the wah “cocked” at any position for classic filter tones. The custom inductor delivers a rich vintage-style sweep, while the Q Range knob on the side lets you shape the wah’s tonal character to match your sound—ranging from subtle and vocal-like to bold and sharp.

Crystal-Clear Volume Control with Adjustable Minimum Range

When switched to Volume mode, the Free Step functions as a high-fidelity volume pedal that preserves your guitar’s tone down to the finest detail. The action is smooth and precise, with an adjustable minimum volume range from 0% to 50%—easily set via the Min Vol dial on the side. This allows you to customize your volume floor, perfect for swells, fades, or rhythm-to-lead transitions.
