Ashish Rasal –
I recently purchased the Yamaha PSR i500 keyboard, and it has exceeded all my expectations. As an aspiring musician, I was looking for an instrument that offered both quality sound and diverse features, and this keyboard delivers on all fronts. The sound quality is superb, capturing the richness and clarity you’d expect from a high-end instrument. The keyboard comes with a wide array of voices and styles, making it incredibly versatile for any genre of music. Whether I’m practicing classical pieces or experimenting with Indian music styles, the PSR i500 handles it all with ease. One of my favorite features is the Indian instrument voices and styles, which allow for a unique and authentic playing experience. The built-in songs and practice functions are also fantastic for improving my skills and expanding my repertoire. The keyboard is well-built and feels sturdy, with keys that are responsive and comfortable to play for extended periods. The user interface is intuitive, making it easy to navigate through the various functions and settings.Overall, the Yamaha PSR i500 is a top-notch keyboard that I would highly recommend to both beginners and experienced players. It offers exceptional value for the price and is a joy to play!

– Authentic Indian sounds: The keyboard comes with a vast collection of Indian instruments, rhythms, and styles, making it perfect for Indian music enthusiasts.- High-quality sound: The sound quality is exceptional, with clear and nuanced tones that accurately replicate the sounds of traditional Indian instruments.- Portable but not so lightweight: The keyboard is slighlty heavy and is not so easy to carry and transport, making it difficult to carry it for practice sessions, and music classes.- User-friendly interface: The keyboard’s interface is intuitive and easy to navigate, allowing me to quickly access and customize various settings and features.- Excellent value: Considering the keyboard’s quality, features, and price, I believe it offers excellent value for money.Overall, the Yamaha PSR-I500 Portable Keyboard is an outstanding instrument that has exceeded my expectations. Its authentic Indian sounds, high-quality sound, and user-friendly interface make it a must-have for anyone interested in Indian music.

Given the price segment this keyboard is in, I would rate it as 5 stars. However, you need to be aware of what you are buying. More details below:ProsGreat instruments, especially IndianGood variety of beats (but not enough). Useful for learning both piano style keyboard and for harmonium Riyaz.Amazing sound quality. Good audio system and speakers.Lots of Styles (beats) including indian ones.Lots of effects and features.ConsI feel that quality of lead Indian instruments isn’t as good as it should be. The beats also don’t sound so good and are very less in number. Normally you need a very wide variety of Indian beats. The Indian styles are very few (but good)Music database has very little songs. I was expecting that it would atleast have what Yamaha offered in older keyboards. Though there are more styles. The non Indian styles and instruments is lesser. The Bollywood styles and songs should have been much higher, both in number and quality. The keyboard quality isn’t as good as older models. Though I read in a review that over period of time, the build quality is deteriorating across brands. This is one place where I wish it was better quality of keys for a higher price.General CommentsI have a PSR 290 that is about 18 years old. It is a great keyboard still, and its instrumetns, styles and MDB are great. When I compare with i500, I see that there is change in the sound texture of instruments and it is different, in most cases improved. However, I was expecting that the number of styles, voices etc. is much larger than what I had 18 years ago, but sadly that is not the case. It has roughly remained similar. There seems to be a huge gap here where beginners to intermediate players (read busy people) want to play around with easy to use keyboard and have many more styles and MDB readily available to learn. Such an option does not exist. Also the Indian sounds have been introduced at the costs of possibly reducing the western / other ones, so I’m not very happy with that either. When introducing region specific features, the other content should not be reduced, as in PSR 463.
