For professionals and enthusiasts seeking exceptional vocal and instrument capture, the Telefunken M 81 Torquoise Dynamic Microphone delivers unparalleled clarity and precision in live and studio settings. Whether you are recording vocals, brass, or guitar amplifiers, this microphone offers a reliable solution that handles high sound pressure levels while maintaining a natural, detailed sound signature. Its robust construction and superior tonal response make it an essential tool for those who demand both quality and durability in their audio equipment.

The M 81 Torquoise is designed around a 25 mm dynamic moving coil capsule, which ensures excellent transient response and accurate sound reproduction. Unlike condenser microphones that require phantom power, this dynamic mic operates efficiently without additional power sources, making it ideal for on-stage use or in environments where simplicity and reliability are paramount. The supercardioid polar pattern focuses tightly on the sound source while minimizing background noise and feedback, allowing performers and engineers to achieve clean, isolated recordings even in challenging acoustic spaces.

One standout feature of this microphone is the TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik T80 transformer, which plays a critical role in delivering a warm, musical tone with minimal distortion. For users, this means that the mic can handle sound pressure levels up to 135 dB without compromising clarity or introducing unwanted artifacts. This high maximum SPL makes the M 81 Torquoise especially suitable for capturing loud instruments like brass sections or guitar amplifiers without distortion, ensuring your recordings remain pristine in demanding scenarios.

The frequency response of the M 81 Torquoise spans from 50 Hz to 18 kHz with a ±3 dB tolerance, providing a balanced and natural sound profile that faithfully captures the nuances of your source. This range covers the essential fundamentals and harmonics for most vocal and instrumental applications, resulting in a versatile microphone that adapts well across multiple genres and recording contexts. With a sensitivity rating of 1.54 mV/Pa and an output impedance of 325 ohms, it offers compatibility with a wide range of audio interfaces and mixing consoles, ensuring consistent performance without signal loss.

In terms of physical attributes, the M 81 Torquoise features a sturdy metal body measuring 184 mm in length and 48 mm in diameter, weighing 430 grams. This solid construction not only contributes to its durability but also provides a comfortable grip for handheld use. Its size and weight strike a balance between portability and stability, making it easy to position on stands or use in handheld scenarios during live performances or studio sessions.

The Telefunken M 81 Torquoise Dynamic Microphone is an excellent choice for vocalists, instrumentalists, and sound engineers who require a microphone capable of delivering professional-grade audio with minimal fuss. Its ability to handle high SPLs without distortion, combined with a focused supercardioid pattern, makes it a trusted companion for live sound reinforcement and studio recording alike. Whether capturing the subtle warmth of a vocal performance or the powerful dynamics of a brass instrument, this microphone provides consistent, high-quality results.
