Telefunken M 81 Oak Microphone

M81 Oak

The M81 is a proven choice for countless sound sources both in the studio and on the stage. It possesses the same condenser-like response, minimal proximity effect, and superior feedback rejection one expects from a TELEFUNKEN Dynamic Series microphone. A smooth frequency response, clarity, and wealth of body make the M81 an ideal tool for taming brighter vocals, guitar tones, and fattening up toms, horns, or other thinner sounding sources. Built around a low-mass diaphragm designed to reduce proximity effect, and a custom-wound impedance matching transformer, the M81 features intelligent design and American-assembled construction, making it is an excellent first choice dynamic for most situations.

The M81 is available in a variety of colors and finishes through our Custom Shop, and in Low-Profile (M81-SH) and Wireless (M81-WH, M81-WH2) packages.

For musicians, vocalists, and audio professionals seeking precision and clarity in live and studio environments, the Telefunken M 81 Oak Microphone offers a compelling solution. Capturing sound with remarkable fidelity while minimizing unwanted noise, this microphone is engineered to elevate your performance and recording quality. Whether you’re amplifying a powerful vocal, recording a dynamic instrument, or capturing stage sound, the M 81 Oak delivers consistent and professional results that meet the demands of discerning users.

One of the standout qualities of the Telefunken M 81 Oak is its dynamic supercardioid design, which effectively isolates the desired sound source while rejecting ambient noise and feedback. This means you can expect cleaner recordings or live sound without the interference of background sounds, allowing your voice or instrument to take center stage with clarity and presence. The supercardioid polar pattern ensures focused pickup, which is especially valuable in loud environments or on busy stages.

Equipped with a 25 mm dynamic moving coil capsule and the renowned TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik T80 transformer, the M 81 Oak achieves a wide frequency response spanning from 50 Hz to 18 kHz with a tolerance of ±3 dB. This range covers the essential frequencies for vocals and many instruments, delivering rich lows, clear mids, and detailed highs. For the user, this means your recordings and live sound will maintain natural tonal balance and articulate nuances, ensuring that every note and word is reproduced accurately.

The microphone’s sensitivity is rated at 1.54 mV/Pa with a ±1 dB variance, which provides an optimal balance between capturing subtle details and handling loud sources without distortion. With a maximum sound pressure level capability of 135 dB for 1% total harmonic distortion, the M 81 Oak can handle high-volume sound sources such as drums, brass instruments, and amplified guitars without compromising audio integrity. This robust handling capacity means you won’t have to worry about distortion even in intense performance scenarios.

Physically, the microphone measures 184 mm in length and 48 mm in diameter, weighing 430 grams. This size and weight provide a comfortable and stable grip for handheld use, while its durable construction ensures reliability in demanding touring and studio conditions. The oak finish not only adds an elegant aesthetic but also reflects Telefunken’s commitment to craftsmanship and quality materials.

The Telefunken M 81 Oak Microphone is an excellent choice for live vocal performances, studio tracking of instruments such as saxophones, trombones, and guitar amplifiers, or any application where precise sound isolation and clarity are paramount. Its ability to reject off-axis noise and handle high SPL sources makes it versatile across a wide range of professional audio scenarios.

In conclusion, the Telefunken M 81 Oak Microphone combines superior sound isolation, broad frequency response, and rugged design to provide professionals with a reliable and sonically rich tool for capturing audio. Priced at ₹36,380, it represents an investment in quality that will enhance your recordings and live sound for years to come.
