Telefunken M 81 Green Microphone

M81 Green

The M81 is a proven choice for countless sound sources both in the studio and on the stage. It possesses the same condenser-like response, minimal proximity effect, and superior feedback rejection one expects from a TELEFUNKEN Dynamic Series microphone. A smooth frequency response, clarity, and wealth of body make the M81 an ideal tool for taming brighter vocals, guitar tones, and fattening up toms, horns, or other thinner sounding sources. Built around a low-mass diaphragm designed to reduce proximity effect, and a custom-wound impedance matching transformer, the M81 features intelligent design and American-assembled construction, making it is an excellent first choice dynamic for most situations.

The M81 is available in a variety of colors and finishes through our Custom Shop, and in Low-Profile (M81-SH) and Wireless (M81-WH, M81-WH2) packages.

For musicians, vocalists, and audio professionals seeking a microphone that delivers exceptional clarity and durability in demanding environments, the Telefunken M 81 Green Dynamic Microphone stands as an ideal choice. Whether you are capturing the nuanced tones of a snare drum, amplifying vocals with precision, or recording instruments with a sharp attack, this microphone is engineered to meet the rigorous needs of studio and stage applications without compromise.

One of the standout features of the Telefunken M 81 Green is its dynamic moving coil capsule with a 25 mm diameter. This design allows the microphone to handle extremely high sound pressure levels, up to 135 dB with only 1% total harmonic distortion, ensuring that even the loudest sources are captured without distortion or clipping. For the user, this translates to pristine, undistorted recordings of powerful instruments such as drums, guitar amps, or brass, where clarity and punch are paramount.

The supercardioid polar pattern of the M 81 Green offers exceptional directionality, meaning it picks up sound primarily from the front while minimizing unwanted ambient noise from the sides and rear. This is particularly valuable in live environments or untreated rooms where background noise can interfere with the desired signal. With this microphone, users can achieve focused sound capture, reducing the need for excessive post-processing and improving overall mix clarity.

At the heart of the microphone’s superior sound quality is the TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik T80 transformer. This custom transformer contributes to a low output impedance of 325 ohms and a sensitivity of 1.54 mV/Pa, which means the microphone delivers a strong, clean signal to your audio interface or mixing console. This results in greater headroom and less noise, allowing for a more accurate and dynamic sound reproduction that professionals demand.

The frequency response of the M 81 Green spans from 50 Hz to 18 kHz with a ±3 dB variance, covering the essential range for capturing both low-end warmth and high-frequency detail. This balanced frequency response ensures that instruments and vocals sound natural and full-bodied without unnecessary coloration or harshness. For users, this means less equalization work and more authentic sound capture straight from the microphone.

In terms of physical design, the microphone measures 184 mm in length with a diameter of 48 mm and weighs 430 grams. This size and weight make it comfortable to handle and easy to position on stands or mounts during performances or recording sessions. Its robust construction ensures reliability and longevity, even under the stresses of touring or frequent use.

The Telefunken M 81 Green Dynamic Microphone is priced at ₹36,380, reflecting its professional quality and precision engineering. This investment is justified by the microphone’s ability to deliver consistent, high-fidelity sound capture across a broad range of applications including studio recording, live sound reinforcement, and broadcast. Choosing this microphone means equipping yourself with a tool that enhances your audio production with clarity, durability, and professional-grade performance.

In conclusion, the Telefunken M 81 Green is not just a microphone—it is a solution for audio professionals who demand superior sound quality and reliability. Its high SPL handling, directional supercardioid pattern, quality transformer, and balanced frequency response combine to provide a versatile microphone capable of capturing sound with remarkable accuracy and presence. Whether you are tracking drums, amplifying vocals, or recording instruments, the M 81 Green will elevate your sound to professional standards with confidence and precision.
