For professional drummers, recording engineers, and live sound technicians, capturing the dynamic range and tonal nuances of a drum kit is paramount. The Telefunken DC7 Drum Microphone Package is designed to meet these exacting demands, providing a comprehensive set of seven high-quality microphones tailored specifically for drum recording and amplification. This package offers a complete solution that ensures every element of your drum kit—from the thunderous kick to the crisp snare and shimmering cymbals—is captured with clarity and precision.

Drum kits are complex instruments with a wide frequency spectrum and varying sound pressure levels. This microphone package addresses these challenges by including a versatile selection of models that excel in different roles. The inclusion of dynamic microphones such as the M82, M80-SHB, and M81-SH caters to the high SPL environments typical of drums, while the condenser M60 FET microphones provide the sensitivity and detail required for overheads or hi-hats. This means you get microphones optimized for each drum component, resulting in a balanced, natural drum sound in your recordings or live mix.

The M82 dynamic microphone is specifically designed for capturing the low-end punch of the bass drum. With a maximum sound pressure level (SPL) of 146 dB, it can handle the intense volume of kick drums without distortion, ensuring that the fundamental thump translates clearly. The M80-SHB and M81-SH dynamic microphones, each with a max SPL of 135 dB, are ideal for snares and toms, offering a cardioid or supercardioid polar pattern that isolates the drum sound while minimizing bleed from other instruments. This focus allows for greater control during mixing. The two M60 FET condenser microphones, capable of handling SPLs greater than 130 dB, are perfect for overheads or hi-hats, capturing high-frequency details and subtle dynamics that add depth and airiness to the drum sound.

Physically, the package includes seven microphones: one M82, one M80-SHB, three M81-SH, and two M60 FET. This comprehensive set covers all typical drum miking positions, eliminating the need for additional purchases and simplifying setup. The dynamic microphones use robust construction and cardioid or supercardioid polar patterns to reduce feedback and background noise, making them reliable choices for both studio and stage environments. The condenser M60 FET microphones offer exceptional transient response and low self-noise, ensuring that even the finest cymbal crashes are captured faithfully.

This microphone package is perfect for professional studios, live sound engineers, and serious musicians who demand top-tier sound quality and durability. Whether you are recording a full drum kit in a controlled studio setting or amplifying drums in a live concert, the Telefunken DC7 package provides the tools needed to deliver crisp, punchy, and well-defined drum sounds. Its tailored combination of microphones reduces the complexity of selecting individual mics and ensures compatibility across all drum components.
