Namesake sound, decades in the making
This synth derives its name from the mind that birthed its multidimensional magic: Thomas Elroy Oberheim. And true to the maestro himself, TEO-5 excels at weaving between time-tested designs and groundbreaking advancements. Envelopes are painstakingly modeled after those found on the OB-8, while the rich state-variable filter draws straight from the iconic SEM, powering unrivaled sonic sculpting via all-analog VCOs and VCFs, deploying oscillators supercharged to rip through the mix with searing thru-zero FM synthesis.
Two oscillators, one limitless palette
At its foundation, two tripartite oscillators drive the distinctive sonics of TEO-5, each of which features three pure waveforms just waiting to be deployed through the synth’s 5-voice polyphony: triangle, sawtooth, and pulse waves. Dedicated sub-oscillators and noise generators expand the hues of TEO-5, honed through the SEM-inspired state-variable filter’s lowpass, highpass, notch, and bandpass options. Morphing and modulating through each filter lets you create dynamic, evolving tones, with options to individually toggle the filter’s use with each oscillator, the sub-oscillator, and the noise generator, augmenting your armature even further.
Vintage magic and contemporary control
Iconic Oberheim effects abound throughout TEO-5, dialed in for a deliverance of dual-digital dynamism that masterfully molds the synth’s armada of analog aesthetics. TEO-5 is outfitted with a dedicated reverb suite and complemented by chorus, delay, and other time-based effects, with detailed feedback-shaping and depth controls to imbue your textures with dimension. To fully tap the latent aural alchemy of TEO-5, meticulously crafted emulations of Oberheim’s lauded Phase Shifter and Ring Modulator are included to evoke blistering resonances, metallic machinations, and kaleidoscopic harmonics.
Malleable modulation and time-bending tone
Across its dual-oscillator architecture, TEO-5 supports multitudes of sound design capabilities, modulation, and timbral shaping. A dyad of multi-waveform LFOs supports dedicated monophonic and polyphonic modulation, while each ADSR envelope supports a flexible array of amp, filter, auxiliary, and gate configurations with toggled velocity parameters to elicit nuanced, expressive performances. Versatile sync, unison, and oscillator cross-modulation options are expanded by onboard PWM and an adjustable Vintage knob to seize global control over the unpredictability of aged analog.
