10 reviews for Roland GO Keys Musical Creation Keyboard

  1. Krithika

Some reviews have come from people who have not understood what to expect from this instrument. I have owned and played a wide range of keyboards, midi controllers and acoustic pianos for 20 years. Check out my list of pros and cons to decide if this is right for you.PROS:1. This is a beautiful, sleekly designed instrument. It will really light up your room or band with its looks! There are no buttons and nobs sticking out, it is all one flat surface and this is really smooth. Like me, if you don’t want your instrument to look like a plane’s cockpit, but prefer something minimal, you will love this.2. The sounds are great for the price range. It is not just a beginners keyboard, when you are ready to go out playing gigs you can surely take this along! BUT YOU WILL NOT HEAR THIS RICH SOUND OUT OF THE BOX. Due to the slim design, you get small 2.5W X2 speakers that cannot do full justice. The other reviews that say the sound is too low or poor have judged it this way. But that is not the way to go. The built in speakers are only to make things easy during travel and practice; use headphones, or an amp or good speakers to feel its full bang. Many great keyboards come with no speakers at all.3. The lightweight and the small size make it easy to carry around. You can play this on your lap!CONS:1. Given the minimal approach, to change a setting or instrument, you need to press many keys. So if you like to change many things while performing you may not be able to do it in time. If you want to make a track by recording many parts one above the other it could get long-winding involving many keypresses. Even for this basic instrument, this could have been better.2. The loop mix is fun to use, it has a large variety of rhythm patterns. But you cannot change the chords and the loop-mix patterns together. This could have lead to so many more possibilities.3. Most of the loop mixes sound thumping and upbeat. The variety could have been more here. Say a swinging blues groove, a 6/8 and something light and acoustic.MY OPINION: I feel keeping the minimal design Roland could have given more power to the user. For eg, the 10 touch pads could be switched to 10 digits while picking instruments. Or you might as well throw in a full touch screen, these days even cheap phones have them. Some control could be delegated to a connected mobile app.CONCLUSION:This is an extraordinary instrument and I look forward to playing it everyday. If you like to change a lot of settings and do detailed arrangements, this is not the instrument for you. If you want a simple and beautiful instrument that gives you rich sounds at an affordable price, then I don’t think you will find anything better.

  3. Deepika

Best buy! Feels light but sounds mighty. All you pros looking to buy a secondary keyboard for jams and performances, Go Keys is the best! Have been using it for about a week now for rehearsals & recording, it feels great!

  6. Jacob

I’m dissatisfied with the products outter body quality. Looks like a old used piece: keys are dull and dirty, screen has scratches and there is no blutooth in this model (in the product description it’s showing it supports bluetooth) There are already songs recorded by someone else who has used this keyboard. Trust me they are not demo songs, it’s jus some random keys being pressed. Please do something about this!
