I own the Rode blimp but I did not buy it from Amazon because it wasn’t available then. I own the previous model which has one advantage over this blimp in that it comes with spare, interchangeable lyres for various types of microphones, particularly the heavier and thicker NT4. This one comes with just one lyre which is suitable only for the lighter directional microphones like NTG1, 2 etc. Please check the compatibility of your mic before buying this. The advantage that this newer version has over the previous model is the angular position of the XLR jack at the bottom of the pistol grip. That makes it easier for you to fix this on a boom pole. Other than that this blimp is exactly as the previous model and it is a damn good windshield. No doubt about that. Wind cannot do any harm whatsoever to your recordings if you have this. I am a hobby bird sound recordist and wind noise used to be my worst enemy in the field but not any more after I got this. I have experimented with it standing right under a full speed ceiling fan. You simply cannot make it out. I am very very impressed by its performance. If you consider wind is your enemy and you value your recordings, then go for it.The seller here looks like very unprofessional. They have virtually no product description. Seems like they have no idea about what they are selling and what sort of information the typical buyer of such products need or look for. They don’t mention what all you get with the blimp, like what’s in the box. There is a dead wombat that you are supposed to get with it and even a comb to brush that from time to time. Nothing is mentioned about that. Please check with them before buying.

Ottimo prodotto ma consegna in grande ritardo.
Ottimo, è ben costruito e ben progettato.

Blocks the wind for clean audio!
The Rode Blimp Microphone Windshield Suspension system does exactly what it is supposed to do: cut down on the wind and protect the mic from jarring noises. In my video, you’ll see the Blimp inside and out, combined with the Rode NTG-2 and boom pole. You’ll see a test on a breezy day, recording sound from a helicopter and then an outdoor effect that is nice and clean despite the breeze. The Blimp itself is a great mount for a shotgun mic. The adjustable brackets inside allow for various mic lengths and diameters. A tool is included to loosen and tighten the bracket screws. Also, included are several sets of rubber bands and cradles to fit your specific mic. Using the handle, you could use it without the boom pole for close interviews or recording live effects up close. The built in XLR cable means you plug your cable into the base of the handle and then to your recording device of choice. The handle adjusts to various angles with a locking mechanism to hold it at the angle you set. The unit is lightweight, which your sound person will thank you for. Finally, you get the “dead wombat” furry cover, that makes a breezy day virtually disappear on the audio track. For an HD version of the video, which is much clearer than the one here, see my YouTube channel, lenswork4 or my blog bentpage dot net.
