software is buggy and hardware is cheap… BUY A DIFFERENT AUDIO INTERFACE!!!
I bought this interface as a nice easy solution to needing audio control through my computer during basic audio usage (Guitar, Piano, Mic recordings, etc.) and I gotta say the device sucks. Physically the devices audio ports are finnicky and janky half the time, and the other half they sound phenominal, the problem is that it will randomly start to seemingly throw a fit even if it’s been working fine all day. The software that runs the device will sometimes randomly bug out and crush the bitrate of the audio to SNES levels if you’re lucky, and if you’re unlucky it will blow your eardrums out with the loudest feedback you’ve ever heard. Surprising considering that the device hardly drives microphones at all. The gain has to be at max with most mics and that’s when you hear the CRTTV level hum it has when you need to go that high. It makes you spend way too much time editing audio in post just to get it sounding normal, so forget about trying to use it for something live. All in all this machine is just not reliable at all. It looks nice, and when it works sounds nice for instrumentation, but it just can’t handle mics in the slightest. I would go buy a slightly higher priced interface, or maybe even try out the creative live brand audio interface that still looks good and has way better reliability than this crap. The only benefit of this machine is that in theory you can record 24 bit/ 198K sound if you can manage to get it working long enough to actually use that added sound quality.

    A very nice interface.
This interface is great for anyone on a budget and wants high quality input into their pc. The latency was no issue and for me that’s #1. I used it with my various amp sims and it did great. It did especially well with Bias FX2 which gave me trouble with their own interface. I like you can control the mix and levels of instrument 1 and 2. It has DAW monitoring and direct monitoring both of which can be mixed to your desired level. It has 2 instrument jacks and 2 XLR inputs for midi and headphones out and 48v of phantom power for the XLR’s. This is how you do it, give the people what they need and what they want at a great price.

    Impressive Little Unit!
I have been testing many pieces of audio equipment over the years and I can say that Mooer has been surprising me with its value over the last year. This is a simple-to-use and easy-to-get good audio results product.I connected the Mooer Step 1 to my Windows 10 Laptop and the device was detected and ready to use in seconds. The Steep 1 has an aluminum top and a hard plastic chassis. The main out, insert, and mix knobs on the top are made of plastic. I opened and inspected the knobs and found them to be constructed well. If you want to travel with this device and treat it well it should hold up.The placement of the inputs and volume for the headphones are on the right side of the unit and the midi, power, and monitor outputs are on the back, this works well for people with podcasting or small studio setups. The mic preamps have phantom power and are good and clean and they provide enough power for most microphones but if you are going to use a power-hungry mic such as a Shure SM7B you will want something like a cloud lifter to boost your signal. I tested the Mooer Steep 1 with many mics and found it to work well providing a clear and clean signal. The real test for an audio interface is not just recording one track but considering how it will sound with many tracks together, so I recorded a song with the unit that had 32 tracks and the unit worked great. I did not hear any muddy track issues, so I feel that the analog-to-digital conversion was very good. Most audio devices have good analog to digital converters today and this device does as well.I also found the Mooer Steep 1 to be quiet without any audio interference issues that can easily destroy an audio signal. If you are looking for an audio interface at a good price point, I don’t think you can go wrong with the Mooer Steep 1.

    Good enough
There is not as much gain as I would like, but good enough for condensers. I tried two dynamic mics and got no output whatsoever. With my little blogger type condensers I had the channel selects all the way up and the master at 60%. I don’t really get how the mix knob is supposed to work, but that is probably the operator and not so much the machine. It fed my Windows computer and my old Zoom H1n simultaneously and without issue.I’m not sure if this is Amazon or Mooer, but I ordered a Steep II and got I’s both times. I gave up trying to get the right one since I’ve had that before and Amazon just cancels the order if a third try is made. I have a real mixer if I ever need the extra XLR, but I would have liked the MIDI, just to have.I guess the OEM packaging is pretty decent as this is sent in a plastic envelope, not a shipping box. Both units arrived unscathed, quite surprisingly.Good little unit, competitively priced, good luck if you want a Steep II.
