    Ottimo

    Great Digital Vox amp
I bought this pedal for a strange reason. I am an older player that recently got a lot of 2-man and single gigs.I generally dislike the sound of modelling amps etc. I had some BOSS GT-series pedals in the past that sounded great but were meticulously difficult to operate. My main amp is a Mesa Mini Rectifier or Blackstar HT20 with an Orange PPC212OB cab. This works great for recording or big gigs. So back to the day tripper (Old people do these time lapses for some explanatory reason) I wanted a pre-amp that can run with my existing pedal board where I could just plug in my guitar and get fairly decent amp like sounds through a house PA.I researched the whole series of these and was stuck between this one and the Two Stones one. The Marshall one (002 or 003) Can’t remember number also sounded good. However I needed a great clean sound that could work for most pop / rock like scenarios. My setup is a Gibson LP Studio into a compressor (MXR dyna) and then into a few drive pedals (EHX Soul Food and Glove) and then into a Tremelo. From There I take it into the MOOER and set it on Cab simulator on (LED Flashes). As recommended by MOOER i then go into my TC Delay and Strymon Big Sky. From here straight into PA desk (Yamaha / Behringer).I do a normal EQ for guitar on desk input (Some low shelf and high shelf cutting to focus on mid section)Important Part:OK so what does it sound like. At first it sounded like the horse’s arse. Really horrible. After a while it just stopped…. BUTI then realized I connected it to a 100 mA output of my power rail. Even if it powers on and gives some sound the supply is too low.No control over EQ and sounded mudded. I switched to a 500 mA output and Voilla. Great clean sound with some drive from the LP.It has a typical VOX AC 15/30 sound. Think Queen/Bryan Adams/U2’s The Edge/Oasis/Gilmour/. The clean sound is amazing with the reverb placed nicely after it. OK so what does drive channels sound like? Not that good in my opinion. It sounds “VOXY” and tended to be a bit too fuzzy when turning up the gain too high. It sounded better with my Drive pedals pushing it than going to 2nd channel. I did tweak it to give a nice crunchy type sound but it has that voxy nasal character (Think Brian May like overdrive sounds). I may be too used to Mesa or Marshall type OD but it is not bad at all. It sounds more VOX like than many of VOX multi pedal modellers. Nice small footprint

    incredibile
