1 small color pop & light scratches on the head… note that they were not dealbreakers because i ordered twice from flipkart and it came literally broken and once from clapbox itself which came with a tore head…

This is my first experience with a darbuka. I was fascinated with this instrument from the time I came across videos related to this instrument on youtube. I play the tabla otherwise and I was looking for a non-leather based percussion instrument for quite a while. The darbuka fit the bill. This one here has good tonal quality. I did return the first piece I received owing to minor scratches on the playing surface probably received during transportation. Amazon made return + replacement a smooth affair and I didnt have the heart to return the replacement piece though I would have preferred the playing surface to be a spotless smooth. The journey with this instrument hopefully will be a long one. Note that the instrument comes with a 2 year warranty and that is a strong plus point.

This is not a darbuka sound!
Most people who have given good reviews don’t even know what a darbuka would sound like and this company has made the best out of the lack of knowledge. The thickness of the hitting area is too thin making it almost like the drums used in Ganpati etc, it’s not the darbuka surface. Darbuka surface is supposed to be thick and hard. I replaced my product thinking it’s a mistake but the replaced one was the same, may be they are earning well with this product and there are less customers looking for darbuka sound in darbuka. Not for me.
Top was very nice. Good support and look. Shorts – I didn’t like the texture of the fabric. Too long the length for me, the ends kept rolling up when practicing my yoga teachings. –
