I’m using this for Music. I also have the Korg Nano – which is the unwritten standard for Mainstage because it’s cheap, integrates well, and is super compact for live use. However, for studio use (… and older eyes!) the Nano’s compactness is a wee too small, and face it – feels a bit cheap. Enter Xtouch which is a nicely built, feels great to the um…touch and is much more powerful. In dim studio light, easy to find buttons. Most of the familiar Daws (Logic user here) or Mainstage let you quickly program buttons/encoders without having to do so on the unit itself. The less you need the mouse, the quicker you get things done. Using either Apple products, (and I’m sure same in Pro-tools, or Abelton Live) it’s a breeze to integrate often used menu items and other functions with keypress shortcuts that are usually hard to remember. All without having to create Macros or edit the unit itself.Using this primarily for my most used oft Logic commands. (See picture) All the usual menu shortcuts and specialty commands can be set via Logic’s (or Mainstage) easy key commands page. For things like controlling filter, pan, ADSR on app specific plug ins (e.g Atmosphere, Arturia, Gforce etc.) and on/off status type functions, this works great. Awesome the rotary buttons also dual function as switches. Buttons can be programmed to have lights on/off/momentary status too.. The Master fader can used to control your Daw’s 2 buss master- or program it to automatically control individual track volume as you select them.If you need multiple faders, or want to do organ drawbar type control this isn’t the box for you- the Nano, Novation, etc. or an Ipad app would be better suited for a simple fader controls I went from a 32 channel mixing console to mixing totally in the box. But first I did the elaborate and complicated 16 channel Mackie midi fader system because I thought I needed that kind of control. After a couple years of real world application I got rid of it.. Took up too much real estate and realized i could do everything one fader at a time along with judicious use of automation. For the rare times I need multiple fader control, I just use the free Logic remote on Ipad. For Macros and more complicated things, you’d need to use software (Keyboard Maestro) or hardware ( Elgato Stream deck). I use those with Finale and other music software that doesn’t have user-friendly shortcuts. Those devices are overkill for simple DAW things like stop-play etc. In many ways, you could use this device to control your Daw, and a simple macro program to do everything else via your regular computer keyboard. For live use: the buttons can be programmed (via the editor) to do multiple things upon entry and exit, and can transmit just about any midi message on any channel. I’ve used buttons to store program change for older midi modules, as well as doing sysex control. You can even use the rotary knobs to generate modulation (great when using a keyboard that doesn’t have mod/pitch wheels). Expression and Mod work great; but tying to use it for pitch bend, didn’t work so well because of the resolution. If you found this helpful, most appreciated if you check the box. Thanks!Once you’ve programmed scenes and setting, you can save them for various set ups.Complaints: The editor is PC only!!! Luckily, wife had a Windows machine, so was able to program it for some live shows. I wish there was a template in easily printable format. If you do a web search, there are Xtouch overlays available for the popular DAWs, as well as blank ones for use with grease pencil or dry erase. My handwriting is so bad I went the low rent Brother Label maker route instead (see pic) , and it’s worked fine. I do wish it was bit cheaper. I recommend keeping an eye on it, because the price tends to wildly fluctuate. It can usually be had for about $20 more than the the Nano- and well worth it.Other than that- fills a great need- great job on this Behringer!

Excellent, affordable, works great with Ableton 10 once you find the magic combination of settings (I’ll come back and add those here when I’m back at my Ableton desktop). What I really wanted was a control surface that would at least be reasonably smart about auto-mapping device and instrument parameters to knobs. I mean, I’m not expecting perfection, or at least my experience so far with control surfaces has taught me not to expect much. This does a pretty reasonable job. I still have to put stickers all over it, and somehow remember which knob goes to which, and wonder about the knobs that don’t seem to move anything. But hey, still is a marked improvement over what I’ve tried so far, and it’s not just another track volume and pan controller. Now, if these manufacturers could find it in their hearts to put useful instructions in the box for at least a few of the top DAWs, or maybe on their web sites. Like I said, the audio production industry is teaching me not to expect much. But I like this controller, the visual feedback is great, they are endless turning knobs and so they solve the problem of not being motorized. I like it and Behringer, good work putting affordable stuff together, not sure why all the hate (haters run in packs?)

Very nice and useful controller — everything it needs to be and nothing more. Overall construction and feel is on par with items twice its price IMO. Knobs feel solid with no wobble, nor do they feel like they’ll break or pop off with regular use. Each knob is also a pushbutton, and the A/B buttons basically double this pup up and give you two controllers for the price of one. I am actually using this with SPAD.neXt as a MSFS2020 MCP controller and it works great. I also tinker around with music, too, so I will no doubt be using it for that as well. Great buy in my opinion.

Purchased it for the photograph work with Adobe Lightroom. The overall review opinion on this product is fairly good except a few points to improve. The first problem I had is the customization of the firmware using X-touch Editor.I didn’t know that there is no Mac version of X-touch Editor. You must use X-touch Editor windows version to customize it.The solution for Mac user like me is the virtual operating system using Parallels.I hope Behringer provides Mac version soon since there are a lot of complaints about this.Secondly, I’m not satisfied with the PC connection it provides, it is quite an old style of USB plug (USB 2.0 mini type B plug). The best substitution would be wireless Bluetooth for sure. Otherwise, they need to replace it with USB 3.0 type C at least.Other than those two mentioned above, it is a quite useful product with affordable price. It definitely reduces tedious mouse clicks and keyboard typing a lot when I use Lightroom.

I remote control my XR18 using the X-Touch Mini, which is connected to my Raspberry Pi 3. The RPi3 is running xair-remote, a custom python script by peterdikant (as found online). Here’s how xair-remote is described: “Use a Behringer X-Touch Mini MIDI controller to remote control a Behringer X-Air digital mixer via the OSC network protocol. Multiple layers allow you to control volume and mute for every input and output channel with only 8 physical encoders. Changes on the mixer will also be displayed accurately on the X-Touch controller.”The program also has tap tempo for relevant effects in the XR18. The X-Touch Mini works great for this usage. It’s solidly built.

This little controller has really changed the way I am able to work while on the go. Using MC mode with Studio One is really simple to get going. With Pro Tools, I have paired this X-Touch with “Mulligan” which allows you to use the x-touch to control plug-in parameters.Either use it has been speeding up the process!

Killer functions in ableton live
i want to add something that is not normally said about this product . i think u already know that this product has really good knobs with light markers( which is cool!) , but u may not be aware of this :1. I picked it up *hoping* to make it work with ableton live , so i could adjust atleast 8 device parameters without my screen & yet know how much values i set, by looking at the light markers. then, i found that this thing has some crazy features which is not even in the manual.2. This thing has the famous “blue hand” in ableton live, which means no mapping is necessary. just select the input device as “mastercontrol”, then set this unit into MC mode. voila ! everything is pre-mapped in LIVE. the knobs automatically control pan, send etc. if u hit button 6, i was really pleased to see that it also auto-maps to 8 device parameters on your focused vst plugin ! i opened a reverb & The encoders were automapped to all the reverb parameters. beautiful.3. finally, i never knew there is even a “bank” button to control more than 8 parameters. hit buttons 7/8 and now the knobs control device parameters 8-16 !its strange that behringer never bother to market any of this nor do they say its premapped to LIVE. overall happy with this product. the knobs & buttons are generously sized, so no hand cramps when using this. time will tell if its sturdy & Durable.finally, yeah we get scalped for this in india. USA price is only $70 & here its Rs 9,500. for the above features, i dont mind spending this.

Used as controller to flightsims
The product is of great quality, sturdy and solidly built. I use it as a input device to flight simulators where the rotaries and buttons come in use. Additional software is needed to interface with the simulators. Very happy with the product.
