10 reviews for Behringer Ultratone K900FX – 90W 12″ Keyboard Amp

  1. stephen

great amp for the price…if you are wondering if it is good for instruments other than keyboard, yes it is…I use my acoustic and electric and my looper on this and its awesome…the price is crazy, worth much more but dont tell them, I might want to buy another one someday. I am a seasoned musician with many amps…this one is great. by the way, its great for vocals too. Low amp draw too, I live off grid and my batteries power it just fine. with a 24v/120vac converter of course.

I was really impressed with the clarity and sound quality! I’ve been using this amp for my electronic drumkit, bass guitar, and electric guitar and it sounds amazing. The low end sounds great. The EQ is really nice for flexibility, but I haven’t had to mess with it much at all. The FX are good to have, but I haven’t been using them. I got this for our small family jam sessions so i didn’t have to use my 8-channel PA system. This is saving a ton of space and it sounds great. Extremely happy with this purchase!

This is a perfect amp for small clubs, rehearsals, or as a personal monitor. I originally got this amp because I wanted something that could handle 2-3 keyboards without having to bring separate a mixer and speaker.Overall, it has good sound quality and enough power for most small rooms. However, if you turn the volume past 2 o’clock (roughly 65-70%), it starts to clip pretty bad. Definitely not meant for large spaces or outdoor venues without the aid of a PA system. Luckily, it’s pretty easy to use and has line and sub outs, which are great features for connecting to larger PA systems.I couldn’t find any literature about the various included effects, so I haven’t really tried using them. The default present is a decent sounding reverb, that’s all I know.Despite the low power, it’s kinda heavy (like 45lbs) and feels solidly built. That said, it’s an unbeatable price for a keyboard amp that can be gigged with.

I bought this amp because all the positive reviews and also because it was under $300!I got tired of having to move my Roland KC-550 back and forth from church to home so thought I wouldsolve this problem and buy this highly rated Behringer K900FX and use it at home.Playing my Yamaha CP-300 through the K900FX amp, the bass sounded thin and a little tinny on thehigh end. And that’s after adjusting the sound through the EQ.Here is the main reason I returned this amp. The sound randomly goes quiet for maybe a second and thenreturns. This happens randomly every 5-30 seconds. I tried different channel inputs and volume levels…nochange. It also had the same issue with vocals and keyboard played together. I used 3 different cords thatwork perfect..no change!Looks like it’s time to “pony-up” and get another Roland. Either a KC-400 or a KC-600.Update:I decided to buy the Roland KC-600. My Yamaha CP-300 keyboard now sounds like a concert grand piano!Amazing rich bass with crisp clean highs….The KC-600 is heavy but beautiful sounding!!!

Use this for my Roland synth, BIG sound, love the separate line volumes, so I use mic input fx, withoutfx on other inputs… Arrived on time, great price- Behringer is up there with the best.

I love this amp! 3 inputs for my 2 keyboards and wireless mic on smaller jobs where I don’t need a PA. Provides a great amount of power and options with onboard effects. Wish it came with casters…I had to install my own. Also wish the effects were channel based instead of amp across the board to all 3 channels. But great overall and doing the job!!

I searched for hours online trying to find a good amplifier for my keyboard. I wasn’t too sure on any of them as I was told by many other keyboard players that only keyboard amps are good for keyboards. This thing does the trick. It’s light enough to where I can carry it around and put in my small trunk. The sounds are great you just have to find a setting that works for you. I use it with my Yamaha YPG 535 in a 15 piece horn and rhythm band and it sounds great. Used it for a professional gig in a fairly large theatre and it plugged into the PA system and sounded great. The power cord is a bit short so I recommend getting an extension cord.

Very solid amp, punchy sound. I tried out a Roland KC-150 Stereo Mixing Keyboard Amplifier and returned it. This amp is more watts and a hundred effects ahead, for a 33% savings. (To be fair, it’s like comparing a Mercedes to a Toyota…but I drive a Toyota.) I don’t notice any tonal coloration between my powered M-Audio studio monitors and this amp, so the next two things are distortion and rugged construction–I hurt my ears trying to make it distort with my (Yamaha MO6) keyboard. The knobs stick out–they’ll snap off if you drop the thing, but you can’t hurt them or make them drift just by turning. The case is abuse-ready, as you’d expect, with metal corners and a perforated-metal speaker guard. It’s a little heavy for its size, but some keyboard amps are 80 pounds and this is only 44 or so–you wouldn’t want an amp that people say is lighter than it looks. I plan to use this for backyard gigs and I didn’t want to set it on wet grass, so I was glad that it has a built-in hole for a speaker stand. One American Audio SPS1B Black Tri Pod Speaker Stand later and I’ve got a sustainable solution. Our band has live drums and louder guitarists…I can’t play on vol. 2, but the Behringer puts out enough power to let me be heard.

Excellent features and quality for the money!
I never really write reviews, but as I searched long and hard for the right keyboard amp I feel I should tell people about this one.Don’t listen too hard to anyone who’s says this amp is no good for keyboards, for it’s price it’s pretty dam good. The 5 band EQ allows for a lot of adjustment if needed, and if you’re putting a good digital keyboard through it you should be able to adjust the EQ before it even gets to the amp. NO amp of this price is going to recreate perfectly the sound of a piano, even if the keyboard you’re using is a good one, you get what you pay for, but I tried others at this price and they sounded terrible, especially the Laney AH50, stay far away from the Laney. I bought this amp for a friend who’s a classically trained pianist of may years and she was happy with the piano sound. This amp kicks out some serious bass even when not boosted with the EQ, the high frequencies are clear and crisp even when using my rubbish dynamic mic. When you start to crank up the volume different sound sources can start to blend into one if you have 3 channels going at the same time, but it depends on what your’re using, I had lots of weird synth sound and vocal loops going through it via a Boss RC-30. And when I say crank up I mean crank up….it’s loud, you probably wouldn’t need it that loud for small gigs, bigger gigs you would just take a line out to the main PA and use the amp as a monitor. What’s the point in pushing the amp to the limit…use a proper PA if you need to fill a medium size room. There is a tiny bit of hiss when you have the channel and master volumes turned up almost full, but this is perfectly normal for any type of amp. It’s hardly noticeable. The xlr mic input is exactly that, a MIC input, don’t try plugging an xlr from your keyboard output as it will just clip and distort. The onboard FX are just great, the reverb especially, lots of different options, they just finish your sound off.I tried my electro acoustic guitar through it too (with DI box of course, don’t try getting good results from high impedance pickups plugged into a LINE input without some kind of DI/preamp amp first, it’ll sound bad and you may break something), it sounded great, could easily be used with acoustic guitar also.Overall an awesome amp, I made the right decision for sure!
