Avantone’s CDMK-6 Drum Microphone Kit is a collection of drum mics designed for live clubs, concerts, and professional studio recording projects. The CDMK-6 includes one MONDO Kick Mic, one ADM Snare Mic, two ATOM Tom Mics, and two CK-1 Cardioid Condenser Mics to mic all of your shells!
The Avantone CDMK-6 Drum Microphone Kit includes the MONDO Kick Mic, the ADM Snare Mic, 2 ATOM Tom Mics, and 2 CK-1 Cardioid Condenser Mics. The Avantone CDMK-6 Drum Microphone Kit also includes six SSM Shock Mounts (one for each microphone) and three Pro-Klamps for the attached microphones. The CDMK-6 comes with a classic tweed casing, as do other Avantone Drum Kits. If you look closely, you’ll notice that very little of the case’s depth is used to accommodate microphones, Pro-Klamps, or SSM Shock Mounts.
The great bulk of the case is ready for storage. Note the portion on the left and right front sides of the case that allows you to push the case lid top up and out of the way to access whatever accessories the drummer is carrying, such as drumsticks, microphones, cables, extra percussion, and so on.

A pair of machined insets on the barrel of each microphone body distinguishes all Avantone CDMK dynamic drum microphones. These insets allow the O-rings of the SSM shockmount to “lock” the mic in place, preventing it from sliding or slipping.
Each microphone is elegantly finished in Cabernet Wine-Red and complemented with polished nickel trim. The MONDO Kick Drum Mic is the centerpiece of the Avantone CDMK drum mic series. It has a very aggressive frequency contour that sounds enormous straight out of the box, so most engineers will find minimal need for EQ… and, as with other Avantone microphones, there is no plastic to break! The MONDO has a die-cast zinc body with a steel and brass grill assembly, as well as internal shock mounting on the capsule assembly to reduce undesirable “rumble” caused by physical vibrations.
The ADM Snare Drum Mic is designed to “follow” the familiar sound of industry-standard snare microphones. However, the Avantone Pro features a superior bass end and a smoother, longer top end. The ADM has a die-cast zinc body with a steel and brass grill assembly. Despite being referred to as a “snare drum mic” by Avantone Pro, the ADM is a multipurpose mic that can be used on high toms, bongos, congas, guitar cabinets, and more.
The ATOM Tom Mic follows Avantone Pro’s general tonal concept of “big sounding drums” and has a bigger capsule that captures a massive bass end as well as a piercing assault. The ATOM is uniquely voiced to produce a large, huge sound that frequently requires no EQ at all! Because of the ATOM’s unique voicing, it also works well on djembe, huge congas, and bass amp cabinets. The ATOM, like Avantone’s MONDO kick drum mic, has a die-cast zinc shell with a steel and brass grill assembly, as well as internal shock mounting on the capsule assembly to reduce undesirable “rumble” caused by physical vibrations.
The CK-1 True Condenser Microphones are used for overheads. The microphones include cardioid capsules for precise stereo image capture. The CK-1 has a low-frequency cutoff switch and a -10 dB attenuation switch for flexible tone shaping and signal management. It correctly catches the nuanced details of the cymbals while eliminating noises from other sources outside the kit. The CK-1 microphone body and capsule assembly are precision-machined from brass. In its standard configuration, the CK-1 employs high-quality polystyrene and metalized polypropylene capacitors in the audio path. This demonstrates Avantone’s dedication to quality, as these are often the types of “upgrade” components used by microphone modders/hot rodders!
The PK-1 PRO-KLAMP drum rim mic mounts are excellent at allowing for confident mic placement while limiting the passage of undesirable vibrations up into the mic via three (!) levels of rubber dampening/decoupling material. This separation enables professional-quality results without the need for tripods or boom supports. While it was created to endure the rigors of live stage performance, it is the only drum rim mic attachment that will function consistently in a professional studio setting. This simplifies the engineer’s job and ensures that the microphones remain in place when he places them. Each PK-1 PRO-KLAMP is designed for dependability and is extremely tough, with heavy-duty metal construction.
The SSM Shock Mounts are as tough as they come and provide excellent decoupling of the microphones from undesired low-frequency transmission and rumbling. This feature, along with the usage of PRO-KLAMPS, produces a much tighter, less muddy sound than other drum mic kits. A proprietary recipe is used to make the O-rings. The new world-class ethylene propylene composition is extremely resistant to breaking and surface nicks and remains flexible and effective even in dry, hot conditions.
It has the highest resistance to ozone and weathering, making it ideal for usage near electrical equipment, and it retains its physical qualities even when stretched. Each SSM is made of heavy-duty die-cast zinc, which not only is extremely robust but also provides mass, which aids in vibration dampening/decoupling.
The handcrafted antique tweed box is designed for heavy-duty storage (and it looks amazing!). This case’s metal borders, lockable latches, high-density foam tray, and plush interior make it extremely sturdy while maintaining a visually pleasing look. Outside, the case has tweed and faux alligator accents, while the interior is Cabernet wine-red plush. The slotted foam tray not only protects and preserves each component of the drum mic set, but it also lifts out of the container to provide room for cables, sticks, and accessories. Furthermore, removing the tray yields an excellent and very appealing piece of carry-on luggage.
