Avantone Pro turned heads with its white-coned classic monitor speaker reproductions, the CLA10s. Now the company is resurrecting another studio standard in the Avantone Kick sub-frequency bass mic. Whether it’s the low-frequency belch of a bass cab or the visceral gut punch of a kick drum you’re trying to capture onstage or in the studio, the Kick and its special 6.5-inch white-coned transducer picks up the slack where other microphones fail. We’ve found the Kick to be a great complement to the Avantone Mondo, as well as a variety of standard bass mics. Just like the original, the Kick’s 6.5-inch press-formed driver comes mounted in a real birch drum shell and mounted to a double-braced stand for hassle-free positioning and long-lasting durability.

The Avantone Pro Mondo is a cardioid dynamic mic purpose-built for bass drums. The Mondo’s aggressive frequency contour delivers huge kick drum sounds right out of the box, so you’ll likely find little need for EQ. It’s fat and massive sounding, with incisive attack and a satisfying weight that captures the full impact and low-frequency energy of the drum. Quality runs throughout the Avantone Pro line, which is evident in the Mondo’s die-cast zinc body and brass/steel grill assembly.
