Avantone Pro CV-12 Overview
Avantone’s CV-12 Multi-Pattern big Capsule Tube Condenser Microphone has a big 32 mm mylar transducer and a tube output stage with a 6072A tube that produces a warm, vintage tone and audio quality. The CV-12 is intended to record vocals and instruments with the warmth and character of microphones from the 1950s and 1960s, at a fraction of the cost of certain popular tube microphones. Its beautiful Cabernet Red-Wine finish and nickel trim distinguish Avantone’s Cabernet (C-series) microphones.
Capture voices, piano, guitar, strings, amplifier cabinets, and other sources in great detail, with minimal noise and distortion. The CV-12’s external power source supports omnidirectional, cardioid, and hypercardioid polar patterns, for a total of nine possible patterns. In addition, there is a -10 dB pad switch to reduce distortion and an 80 Hz HPF filter to reduce low-frequency noise. The microphone comes with Avantone’s unique vintage shockmount, power supply, connecting cable, and an aluminum carrying case.
Designed for superb sound.
The CV-12 delivers performance comparable to much more expensive microphones. The sturdy CV-12 microphone body and capsule assembly are precisely machined from brass. It has a beautiful cabernet wine-red color, with polished nickel trim and grill. The transformer-coupled tube circuitry owes its origins to notable European antique designs. Any studio may proudly employ the CV-12 as a primary voice mic; it oozes quality both physically and musically.
The CV-12, made from the best materials, has a very solid feel, excellent structural integrity, and tough durability. With nine possible pickup patterns, you can easily record anything, and the twin 32mm gold-sputtered Mylar capsules respond swiftly to transients to capture the actual sound of any instrument or speech. When utilized with nuanced, sensitive sound sources, the flexible CV-12 mic delivers excellent results with a warm, appealing sonic quality reminiscent of a classic tube mic.
