Point-source transduction, field-effect detection, and pure high voltage. Capture your instrumentation with exacting detail using the GXL1200 condenser mic. The GXL1200 condenser mic from CAD Audio is inspired cosmetically, mechanically, and electrically by early generations of European masters. A mic clip and protective pouch are included. P48 (48V) phantom power is required.
Capture your instrumentation with exacting detail.
The CAD Audio GXL1200 condenser microphone consists of a thin conductive membrane stretched very close to a stationary plate. High voltage is applied between the membrane and the plate. As the membrane vibrates, electrons move. These moving electrons are sensed as voltage. This voltage can be strengthened (but not necessarily increased) by silicon.
The cardioid polar pattern is ideal for field-effect recording for vocals and instruments, but it also works well for live applications. Use condenser mics to get a clear directional recording of choirs, acoustic instruments, strings, piano, and cymbals/overheads.
The GXL1200 comes complete with a mic clip and a protective carrying pouch for easy transport and set up. (A mic stand is not included.)

Bought one last year… so good that I bought two more….
These are used in an elementary school cafeteria. They are hung so that they pickup 1/3 of the stage. One mic did such a great job, I bought two more. Now I have complete coverage that produces such a clear and transparent sound image of the action on stage. I also had Rode mics and a few others but quickly found out that nothing came close to this mic. The other mics have their place as they perform well in other situations… but these pencil mics just did the trick in my case. I would completely recommend these for over-head mic’ing.

Perfect sound capture
Bought this after testing several more expensive mics and was very impressed at how it captured the tone and characteristics of my Guild Jumbo Acoustic. This CAD mic sounded even better than my $1200.00 AKG414!Would definitely suggest you at least give it a try.

Low cost condenser mic
I use this mic is used primarily for micing acoustic guitar or mandolin at small coffee house type gigs. The sound is quite good, and its sensitivity allows the instrument to be some distance from the mic, which can be handy if you’re trying to mic several instruments at once from one mic. I have another mic of this size, an SE-1, and the two are comparable. I’ve not had any problems with mine, and would buy another if this one were to disappear (which sometimes happens at gigs!)

Hot little mic.
This is one hot little mic. It picks up the choir perfectly. Just what we needed and at a great price.
