Telefunken M 81 Yellow Microphone

M81 Yellow

The M81 is a proven choice for countless sound sources both in the studio and on the stage. It possesses the same condenser-like response, minimal proximity effect, and superior feedback rejection one expects from a TELEFUNKEN Dynamic Series microphone. A smooth frequency response, clarity, and wealth of body make the M81 an ideal tool for taming brighter vocals, guitar tones, and fattening up toms, horns, or other thinner sounding sources. Built around a low-mass diaphragm designed to reduce proximity effect, and a custom-wound impedance matching transformer, the M81 features intelligent design and American-assembled construction, making it is an excellent first choice dynamic for most situations.

The M81 is available in a variety of colors and finishes through our Custom Shop, and in Low-Profile (M81-SH) and Wireless (M81-WH, M81-WH2) packages.

The Telefunken M 81 Yellow microphone is designed for professionals and enthusiasts who demand exceptional clarity and precision in their sound capture. Whether you are recording vocals, instruments, or live performances, this microphone offers a superior solution to common audio challenges such as background noise interference and lack of detail in the mid to high frequencies. By choosing the M 81 Yellow, you equip yourself with a tool that delivers consistent, high-quality sound reproduction, ensuring your recordings or live sound setups stand out with clear and accurate audio.

One of the standout features of the M 81 Yellow is its dynamic supercardioid polar pattern. This means the microphone is highly focused on the sound source directly in front of it, while effectively rejecting unwanted ambient noise from the sides and rear. For the user, this translates into recordings with minimal bleed from other instruments or environmental sounds, making it ideal for close-miking applications in studio or stage settings. This precise directional control makes it easier to isolate vocals or instruments, resulting in a cleaner, more professional sound without the need for extensive post-processing.

The microphone’s frequency response ranges from 50 Hz to 18 kHz with a ±3 dB tolerance, delivering a broad spectrum that captures both the warmth of low frequencies and the brightness of higher tones. This wide frequency range ensures that the microphone faithfully reproduces the natural timbre of voice and instruments, preserving the nuances that give recordings their character. The 25 mm dynamic moving coil capsule contributes to this accuracy by responding quickly to sound waves, providing a balanced output that avoids harshness or muddiness. For users, this means recordings that sound natural and detailed, whether you are capturing a deep male vocal or a crisp acoustic guitar.

Integral to the microphone’s performance is the TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik T80 transformer, a high-quality component that enhances signal integrity and reduces noise. For the customer, this ensures that the output signal remains clean and strong, even in challenging acoustic environments or when long cable runs are necessary. The sensitivity of 1.54 mV/Pa with a ±1 dB variance means the microphone can pick up quieter sounds without distortion, which is essential for capturing subtle performances or delicate instruments.

The M 81 Yellow is also built to handle high sound pressure levels up to 135 dB without distortion at 1% total harmonic distortion (THD). This robustness allows users to confidently record loud sound sources such as guitar amplifiers, brass instruments, or drums without compromising audio quality. The output impedance of 325 ohms ensures compatibility with a wide range of professional audio equipment, making integration into existing setups straightforward and reliable.

In terms of physical design, the microphone measures 184 mm in length with a diameter of 48 mm and weighs 430 grams. These dimensions provide a comfortable grip for handheld use while maintaining durability for frequent handling and transport. The distinctive yellow finish not only adds a visual flair but also helps easily identify the microphone in a busy studio or stage environment.

The Telefunken M 81 Yellow is perfectly suited for vocalists, instrument recording, and live sound engineers who require a dependable microphone that delivers clarity and precision with minimal interference. Its combination of directional control, wide frequency response, and robust build quality makes it a versatile choice for both studio and live applications. By investing in the M 81 Yellow, users gain a professional-grade microphone that enhances their audio projects and performances with reliable, high-fidelity sound capture.

Confidently priced at ₹36,380, the Telefunken M 81 Yellow represents a valuable investment for anyone serious about achieving top-tier audio quality.
