Wolff Audio Console ST-40 – a massive, custom 40-channel configuration designed for studios demanding extreme input counts and maximum flexibility, expanding upon the standard ST line.

The ST-40 is an impressive production centerpiece utilizing Paul Wolff’s scalable “bucket” architecture. It provides a staggering 40 fully functional input channels, each capable of handling three summable signals. This results in an unimaginable 120 inputs available during mixdown (excluding effects returns), making the ST-40 perfect for large orchestral sessions or complex film mixes. Like its smaller siblings, the console comes fully loaded with 500 Series modules – in this case, 40 RefPre preamps and 40 FREQ equalizers.

Despite its size, the ST-40 maintains an intuitive workflow and all the unique features of the ST series: swappable “Tone Cards” on summing buses (allowing a choice between pristine clean and saturated vintage tones), the powerful Grand Master mode, and a flexible routing system with 8 sends per channel. The console can be arranged in various layouts (e.g., L-shape, center producer section) and is available with optional full “Flying Faders” automation.
